The work of Cordell Taylor is deeply rooted in his personal ideal and philosophy. Through his work the sculptor constructs universal relations into personal statements about life, society and culture. His work relates a sophisticated degree of technical skills and understanding, which gives his sculpture the purity and originality necessary to achieve international recognition.
Taylor started his working life as an iron worker and fabricator in the oil fields of the western US. Eventually his natural inclination to artistic expression led him to the University of Utah and a degree in Fine Arts. Today he creates site-specific commissioned sculptures working with architects and designers, as well as his own internally-motivated art. Yet one can always see the underlying perspective and workmanship he first developed in the oil fields, if one takes the time to look deep into his work.
